Harry Tanner is a classicist, author and broadcaster based in London. His Bloomsbury debut, The Queer Thing About Sin, was shortlisted for Foyles Book of the Year 2025 and longlisted for the Runciman Award. He holds a PhD in Ancient Greek from the University of Galway, and appears regularly on the ideas circuit — The Guilty Feminist, History Hit’s Betwixt the Sheets, and the Institute of Art and Ideas — with writing in The Big Issue among others. He brings the ancient world to bear on how we live now: rest and overwork, desire, and the art of disagreement.
